That’s right! As of March 11, “the marketing, import, and sale of animal-tested cosmetics and their ingredients will no longer be legal in the EU.” Congratulations to PCRM, who did a lot of work lobbying for the ban, and here’s to passing a similar ban in the U.S. Cosmetics don’t need to be tested on animals any longer. Science has moved beyond it; here’s hoping we can move society beyond it, too.

Ben the Bear is FREE! Our pal Ian at the Animal Legal Defense Fund alerted us to this wonderful news. After six years of being confined in a concrete cage as part of a roadside zoo in North Carolina, Ben is now living it up at the Performing Animal Welfare Society sanctuary in San Andreas, Calif. Look at him splash in his new pool!

Read more about Ben at ALDF, and thanks so much to the concerned citizens of North Carolina who sued on Ben’s behalf, and to ALDF and PETA for fighting in court for Ben’s freedom, and PAWS for taking him in. May he live a healthy and happy life amid the California oaks!

It’s SO.GOOD.

Now if only they had wifi….I’d sit here and eat vegan snack pizzas all day! *sigh*

Teese (mozzarella flavor) on pizza. Still meh. My omnivore husband swears its the same texture as real fresh mozzarella but I call it rubbery. Still no good substitute for Daiya.

Teese (mozzarella flavor). The verdict: meh. I give it 4/5 stars for texture and 2/5 stars for taste (or lack of taste rather). Also 5/5 for pleasant cheese-like smell.

I tried making a quesadilla and purposely didn’t put anything on it so I could taste the Teese. Problem was I didn’t taste anything really. Texture is pretty good. But that’s it. Maybe I need to try a different flavor.

I think this “cheese” melts well so I will try it on pizza later this weekend. But I have a feeling that it won’t replace the Daiya in my life.

Sheese. I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. It reminds me of the tofutti fake cream cheese. if tofutti fake cream cheese didn’t have hydrogenated oils and was a hard “cheese” it would be Sheese.

Not recommended for eating cold but when melted, it could work for grilled cheese and I think I will try it baked in casseroles.

I ordered my Sheese from Food Fight in Oregon.

Dessert at Millennium Restaurant in San Francisco. Crazy yummy and beautiful hot chocolate with even yummier Chocolate Almond Midnight. The best and fanciest vegan restaurant in SF! It’s pricey but so worth it! Make reservations.

Sorry I forgot to take photos of the rest of dinner….it was so tasty looking I just had to dig in right away! (I always forget to take photos at Millennium. Oh well!)
